I’m a fan of the rosie blog and her haiku, almost non-sensical posts.
But today Ms. Ro posted one about Britney Spears and she even used full sentences!
I’m Britney’s age (well a couple of months younger), and if I had her life I think I would have fallen off the deep end a long time ago. I thought Rosie’s words were amazing, comparing Brit to Princess Diana.
She also highlights the fact Brit is just 26! Lay off her already….
It’s a must read: TWENTY SIX

I’ve read a ton of business stories on how “old media” news networks are trying to reach younger viewers through the web. I currently work at one of the major TV-to-Web sites (won’t say which one), and let me tell you, many have no idea what the hell they are doing. They’re run by TV producers who know less about the internet then my parents. But one site that annoys me the most is CBSNews.com. I wish I could just take over your site for one day, there’s so much potential…but, obviously won’t happen. I’m young and grew up with the web so, here’s some free advice.
- First up, consider redesigning your homepage. It’s ugly and looks like a huge CBS advertisement. The site gets even uglier when you simulcast the Evening News and put in a huge banner that over takes the site and pushes your important headlines even more down. People are moving to the web because its easy, we can go and scan the headlines and get a grip of the news. When I go on CBSNews.com, the first thing I see are the names of shows all across the front. It seems like you have more show titles then you do headlines on some days.
- Now CBSNews.com, hear this! I HATE, HATE, HATE, the fact that in your stories you always bold the name of the TV reporter and the name of the show (LIKE THIS STORY). IT IS SO POINTLESS! No one cares who your reporters are. We want news…do you really think bolding the reporters names helps your readers? It doesn’t it only shows that you don’t understand the Web and just think its there for promotional purposes.

CNN.com has a scary on how 1 in 3 workers born in 1990 will have $0.00 in their 401 K’s.
This troubles me.
But let me say, it may be more of an issue of companies not offering 401K’s. I worked two jobs freelance when I graduated college, and non offered a 401K. I went to tons of job interviews and many of the jobs didn’t offer full benefits. Now that I have 401K I see how usefull it is, especially if the company is matching your contributions.
It’s free money, do it!

Gimme More, the new Britney Spears single will be number 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100 list, and number 1 on its digital sales list.
I think we are moving into uncharted territory here, where an artisits life is in shambles, yet their career is still thriving. Remember Mariah Carey’s breakdown? Her album and movie Glitter bombed.
But, Glitter was also bad, while Gimme More is actually a really good song. The Billboard chart will be Brit’s highest since Baby One More Time (Toxic, as good as it was, only made it to #9.)
This success also says a lot about the credibility of celeb sites like TMZ.com Perezhilton.com. I have been looking at the two of them as more reliable sources and/or fairly smart pop culture commentators, but they’re not. Check out all the wrong-ness here:

Watching the VMA’s, I realized I’m old.
I’m 25.
Britney’s career is over at 25.
Justin Timberlake, 26, said that he felt old watching Chirs Brown perform.
MTV, 26, is obviously going through some quarter-life crisis with that shitty show.
Are our mid-20′s really the beginning of the end?

What the hell was that?
Britney bombed…she looked so nervous, scared and lost…like a child.
But what was worst than Brit’s performance? THE ENTIRE FUCKING SHOW.
Its bad enough the network doesn’t play enough videos (thanks Mr. Timberlake for pointing that out twice), but did they have to cut every performance short?
Kanye’s performance was shot in a dark room, I couldn’t see shit. They don’t got lights in the Palms?
The entire show was a two hour text message, rhapsody.com, and Palms ad.

This is what the homepage of cnn.com looked like July 12 (Click on the image to enlarge).
I know its kind of old, but I didn’t have time to post it before.
Is it a coincidence that the day the House votes to remove troops (read the breaking news strip) is the same day that “Al Qaeda” gets more powerful?
